In Bok's reading he uses a lot of different researcher to prove his point. Using Fish’s argues that there are pros and cons towards undergraduate students at all colleges. Such as the limitations for being a undergraduate student and how undergraduates portray their characteristics in college and how the come to be who they are by their surroundings during their four year college. The behavior of students with the communications with other people and the ability to read and write, speak clearly, and knowledge of basic math as a freshman before their first year but it doesn't quite go that well. Not everyone knows well about how their own higher education works even if they are already pursuing great work do they know it themselves what it is. Maybe it’s the college the university itself that is very divers that are having outdoor extracurricular activities that are for the four years that they attend there and effects students who have those experience, which will probably make the students behave a little bit more.
Student for example how they prepare for their work, their interests, living society with their diversity as a citizen by being moral reasoning containing critical thinking and having the ability to communicate in college. Using communication they want them to come prepared since a lot of them come from families that came from non English speakers. They want them to think clearly and critically when answering questions or having the goal of methods that can be used for problem arising in everyday life to recognize the obstacles clearly and conceive as many solutions in different ways as possible. They need to learn how to live with responsibility and work effectively as generations starts to come by such as the work force that engages with many different ethnicity. No college can prevent students to keep away from learning what the success is.
As I started to keep on reading this passage, he gives out a lot of references from other researchers. Their main points do make sense but at the same time he mentions too much which kind of confuses me and makes me loose track of the main idea. He mentions a lot about of undergraduates that seem to be out of touch with real life realities and that they have to make personal and right decisions by themselves and do what is right. On the other hand other students won’t make the decisions by themselves and they would lean on someone to do it for them when they are at a dead end. I think he wants the college to be responsible of how a college undergraduate thinks like and how they put action to their work that college is a place that is suppose to guide them and lead them to a better understanding of what the behavior of a undergrad is. His goals of what an undergraduate education provides additional information of the variety of Americans during their four year and wants undergrads to avoid these list of events may be of a college student.
Here are my thoughts....
